Export Compliance

Successful exporting takes careful planning and commitment to ensure you meet export control and sanctions laws and regulations.

Export control and sanctions laws and regulations can result in authorization requirements for strategic items, at piece-level, transported via AIR FRANCE KLM MARTINAIR Cargo hubs in France and the Netherlands.

Compliance with these laws and regulations is vital to protect (inter)national security, foreign policy, the spread of weapons of mass destruction or missile technology. Unauthorized exports, transits or import of even low-level technology can potentially jeopardize these efforts.

Be prepared
Understanding and preparing for export risks before you get started is important in order to mitigate these risks. You need to know what restrictions and export controls apply. Good preparation is half the work, and prevents delays and infringements.

Be specific
Do not let carriers and authorities guess what type of product you are shipping.
Be specific in your commodity descriptions, and prevent ambiguity of terms.
For all goods offered for transport to, from or via the European Union, make sure to comply with ICS2 legislation and provide HS-codes at all times.
